The Safeture Platform employs various methods and functionalities to track employee locations, with all data continuously uploaded to Safeture's servers in compliance with GDPR regulations.

Positioning Methods

Mobile App Positioning

The Safeture mobile application enables active monitoring of employees' locations. When activated, the app automatically transmits location data without requiring any manual input from the user. Location determination is based on GPS, Wi-Fi networks, VPNs, and mobile network connections:

Wi-Fi: Connecting to a Wi-Fi network can lead to inaccuracies in location reporting. The platform may use the position of your internet base station or router—often set by your internet provider—as the reported location, rather than your actual position.
VPN: Similar to Wi-Fi, using a VPN can significantly distort location reporting. Depending on the VPN configuration, it may indicate a location in a different state or country for privacy reasons, potentially leading to a "false" location being reported on the Safeture app.
Mobile Networks: This method provides the most accurate positioning. With a strong cellular connection, your location can be determined through triangulation and GPS (trilateration). For instance, being outdoors enhances accuracy significantly, while being in a basement may reduce it. Additionally, enabling Bluetooth improves location precision, as Apple’s location services utilize Bluetooth for more accurate reporting.

Travel Booking Data

If you have access to the Travel Data Module and integrate PNRs (Passenger Name Records) into Safeture, the platform will utilize the itinerary locations from travel bookings. This requires integration with a Travel Management Company, parsing through email data, or manual input of travel information.

Manual Check-Ins in the App

Users can also manually check in by pressing the check-in button within the app. This action sends the user’s current location to the Safeture Platform.
